Artist Statement

I work with repurposed materials that encompass the themes of identity, cultural manipulation, and memory. Using materials and techniques alien to traditional repertoire, I seek to subvert the typical understanding of crafts and the making process. By challenging the social stereotypes, mythologies, and function of materials, I endeavour to bring questions to the surface. In asking these questions, I bring ambiguity into the open.

Using the choice of materials and techniques, I create objects and give them an altered life and meaning to comment on personal and universal experiences. I see my work as an exercise/process in shoaling ideas across time, place, memory, and identity to bring new interpretations and insight into issues, including those of gender, race, and technology.

I am a member of Red Herring Studios in Portslade, West Sussex, United Kingdom
